205640-91-1 Usage

Description

Orexin B (Human) is a hypothalamic neuropeptide that plays a crucial role in regulating feeding behavior, wakefulness, and behavior under high motivational relevance. It acts as an agonist of orexin (OX) receptors, with IC50 values of 420 and 36 nM for human recombinant OX1 and OX2 receptors, respectively. Orexin B induces transient increases in intracellular calcium in CHO cells stably expressing OX1 and OX2, as well as in primary rat ventral tegmental area (VTA) dopaminergic neurons. Additionally, it stimulates arachidonic acid release from CHO cells expressing human recombinant OX1 and food intake in freely feeding mice and goldfish when administered at intracerebroventricular doses.

Uses

Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Orexin B (Human) is used as a research tool for studying the role of orexin receptors in various physiological processes, such as feeding behavior, wakefulness, and motivation. Its agonistic properties make it valuable for investigating the mechanisms underlying these processes and for developing potential therapeutic agents targeting orexin receptors.
Used in Neuroscience Research:
Orexin B (Human) is used as a research compound in neuroscience to explore the neural circuits and signaling pathways involved in the regulation of feeding behavior, wakefulness, and motivation. This helps researchers better understand the complex interplay between the central nervous system and these physiological processes, potentially leading to the development of novel treatments for related disorders.
Used in Drug Discovery and Development:
Orexin B (Human) is used as a lead compound in drug discovery and development efforts aimed at targeting orexin receptors for the treatment of various disorders, such as sleep disorders, eating disorders, and addiction. Its ability to modulate orexin receptor activity makes it a promising starting point for designing new therapeutic agents with improved efficacy and safety profiles.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Orexins/Hypocretins, Orexin A/ hypocretin-1 and Orexin B/ hypocretin-2, are excitatory neuropeptides that mediate there effects via two receptors, OX-1 and OX-2. Orexins are involved in food intake, obesity regulation, energy homeostasis and differentiation.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 205640-91-1 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 2,0,5,6,4 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 205640-91:
(8*2)+(7*0)+(6*5)+(5*6)+(4*4)+(3*0)+(2*9)+(1*1)=111
111 % 10 = 1
So 205640-91-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
