9027-96-7 Usage
Description
Citrate Synthase, also known as Citrate (Si)-Synthase, is an enzyme that catalyzes the condensation of oxaloacetic acid and acetyl-CoA to yield citric acid and coenzyme A. It plays a crucial role in the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, also known as the Krebs cycle or citric acid cycle, which is a key metabolic pathway for energy production in cells.
Uses
Used in Biochemical Research:
Citrate Synthase is used as a research tool for studying the TCA cycle and its regulation in various organisms. It helps scientists understand the metabolic pathways and energy production mechanisms in cells.
Used in Enzyme Assays:
Citrate Synthase is used as an enzyme assay to determine the activity of pyruvate carboxylase, another important enzyme in the TCA cycle. This helps in understanding the interplay between different enzymes and their roles in cellular metabolism.
Used in Reproductive Biology:
Citrate Synthase from porcine heart has been used to inject newt eggs for determining its importance in egg activation at fertilization. This application helps researchers explore the role of Citrate Synthase in reproductive processes and the mechanisms of egg activation.
Used in Cellular Signaling Studies:
Citrate Synthase has been used to examine whether it can induce a [Ca2+] increase and egg activation in unfertilized eggs. This application aids in understanding the role of Citrate Synthase in cellular signaling and its potential involvement in various biological processes.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Citrate synthase catalyses the conversion of citrate to acetyl-CoA in the presence of coenzyme-A with the release of H2O and oxaloacetate. The enzyme has a molecular weight of 85 kDa and a pI of 6.1-6.6. It is inhibited by fluoroacetyl-CoA, palmitoyl-CoA, and citroyl-CoA. It is also inhibited when it is acetylated by acetic anhydride or iodinated by iodine.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 9027-96-7 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 9,0,2 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 9027-96:
(6*9)+(5*0)+(4*2)+(3*7)+(2*9)+(1*6)=107
107 % 10 = 7
So 9027-96-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
