Preparation of Urea,N,N'-bis(trimethylsilyl)-: It can be obtained by urea and 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexamethyl-disilazane. This reaction needs reagent saccharin and solvent ethyl acetate by heating. The reaction time is 20 min. The yield is 98.5%.

Uses of Urea,N,N'-bis(trimethylsilyl)-: This chemical, a good silane reagent, is used in the production of β-lactam antibiotics, cephalosporin IV and cephalosporins VI. It also can react with trifluoroacetyl chloride to get 1,3-bis-trifluoroacetyl-urea. The yield is 40%.
