Preparation of 1,3-Dioxolane,2-(2-bromoethyl)-2-methyl-: this chemical can be prepared by 2-(2-Methyl-[1,3]dioxolan-2-yl)-ethanol. This reaction needs reagents Ph3PBr2 and Pyridine during the temperature between -10 °C and 20 °C. In addition, the reaction time is 1.5 hours and the yield is 75%.

1,3-Dioxolane,2-(2-bromoethyl)-2-methyl- can be prepared by 2-(2-Methyl-[1,3]dioxolan-2-yl)-ethanol

Use of 1,3-Dioxolane,2-(2-bromoethyl)-2-methyl-: it is used to produce other chemicals. For example, it is used to produce 7,8-Dimethyl-N5-deazapterin-HBr. This reaction will occur at the temperature of 60 °C for 16 hours. And the yield is 70%.
