Uses
2,2,4-TRIMETHYL-1,2-DIHYDROQUINOLINE is a general purpose antioxidant, stabilizer or polymerization inhibitor. The polymer is useful as an antioxidant for rubber.
Production
2,2,4-TRIMETHYL-1,2-DIHYDROQUINOLINE is effectively prepared by the polymerization of 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,2-dihydroquinoline monomer in the presence of Hydrochloric Acid, the amount of Hydrochloric Acid being 0.2 to 0.5 mole per mole of the total of the monomer and impurity AMINES contained in the monomer, and the concentration of Hydrochloric Acid being from 15 to 25% by weight.
Toxicity Data With Reference
Oral rat : LD50: 2250 mg/kg
