Preparation of 2-Chlorobenzimidazole: This chemical can be prepared by 1,3-dihydro-benzoimidazol-2-one. The reaction will need reagent phosphoryl chloride. The reaction time is 2 hours with heating, and the yield is about 45%. 

Uses of 2-Chlorobenzimidazole: It can react with chloromethyl-thiirane to produce 2-chloro-1-thietan-3-yl-1H-benzoimidazole. This reaction will need reagent KOH, and the solvent H₂O. The reaction time is 3 hours with temperature of 60°C, and the yield is about 73%.
