Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by 2-(9H-fluoren-9-ylmethoxy)-tetrahydro-pyran. This reaction will need reagent tetrabutylammonium tribromide and solvent methanol. The reaction time is 2 hours with reaction temperature of 20 °C. The yield is about 90%.



Uses of 9-Fluorenylmethanol: it can be used to produce 9-(fluoromethyl)fluorene. It will need reagent diethylaminosulfur trifluoride and solvent CH2Cl2 with reaction time of 6 hours. The yield is about 58%.
