Alginic acid Specification

The Alginic acid, with the CAS registry number 9005-32-7,is also known as Landalgine. It belongs to the product categories of Organic matters. This chemical's molecular formula is (C12H16O12)n  and Its EINECS number is 232-680-1.What's more,Its systematic name is Alginic acid .It is an anionic polysaccharide distributed widely in the cell walls of brown algae, where it, through binding water, forms a viscous gum. In extracted form it absorbs water quickly; it is capable of absorbing 200-300 times its own weight in water. Its colour ranges from white to yellowish-brown.

Safety Information of Alginic acid:
The Alginic acid is irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin. When you use it ,wear suitable protective clothing and avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

Preparation of Alginic acid:
Alginic acid absorbs water quickly, which makes it useful as an additive in dehydrated products such as slimming aids, and in the manufacture of paper and textiles. It is also used for waterproofing and fireproofing fabrics, as a gelling agent, for thickening drinks, ice cream and cosmetics, and as a detoxifier that can absorb poisonous metals from the blood. Alginic acid is used in various pharmaceutical preparations such as Gaviscon, Bisodol, and Asilone. Alginate is used extensively as a impression-making material in dentistry, prosthetics, lifecasting. It is also used in the food industry, for thickening soups and jellies.
