Aprotinin Specification

The systematic name of Aprotinin is Trypsin inhibitor, pancreatic basic. With the CAS registry number 9087-70-1, it is also named as Basic pancreatic trypsin inhibitor. The product's categories are Affinity Chromatography; Protein Chromatography; Specialty Resins, and the other registry numbers are 11005-72-4; 11132-77-7; 39283-52-8; 69431-34-1; 9004-04-0; 9039-77-4. Besides, it is white powder, which should be sealed in brown glass bottle at 2-8 °C. It is stable and incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. In addition, its molecular formula is C284H432N84O79S7 and molecular weight is 6511.51.

Preparation of Aprotinin: please triturate the freezing or fresh beef lungs. Then you can use water to extract, and salt out by the use of Ammonium sulfate. Afterwards, please use TDA to eliminate protein. And you will obtain this chemical by dialysis, desalting, precipitation and other steps. The total yield is about 23 %.

Uses of Aprotinin: this product is used to inhibit trypsin and related proteolytic enzymes as the bovine version of the small protein basic pancreatic trypsin inhibitor, or BPTI. Its action on plasmin independently slows fibrinolysis. Furthermore, it can be used as an enzyme inhibitor to prevent protein degradation during lysis or homogenization of cells and tissues in cell biology.

When you are using this chemical, please be cautious about it as the following: it is harmful by inhalation, in contact with skin and if swallowed. Please do not breathe dust. Moreover, it is irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin. And it also may cause sensitization by inhalation and skin contact. In case of contact with eyes, please rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Additionally, you should wear suitable protective clothing and gloves. And in case of accident or if you feel unwell, please seek medical advice immediately (show the label whenever possible.)
