- In situ preparation and catalytic activation of copper nanoparticles from acetylide molecules
-
Because metal nanoparticles have a high surface area to volume ratio, they can be highly reactive, cost-effective catalysts. However, metallic surfaces are usually too reactive to maintain their metallic character in the presence of oxygen and/or water va

- Nanoparticle route for the synthesis of a stable and stoichiometric Cu2C2 phase - A semiconductor material
-
The application of nanoparticle route for the synthesis of a stable and stoichiometric Cu2C2 phase, using activated reactive evaporation technique, was presented. Optical absorption coefficient of the copper carbide nanoparticle films was evaluated in the wavelength region 0.35-1.5 μm from the reflectance, transmittance, and thickness data. The observed stability and preferential growth of Cu2C2 was linked to the nanoparticle nature. Nanoparticle films exhibited good electrical conductivity, n-type semiconducting nature, high optical absorption coeffecient, and a size-dependent absorption edge.
