- Fabrication of Pd-Fe nanowires with a high aspect ratio by AAO template-assisted electrodeposition
-
In this study, vertically oriented Pd0.86Fe0.14 nanowires have been fabricated using an anodized aluminum oxide (AAO) template by direct voltage electrodeposition at room temperature. AAO template-assisted electrodeposition of Pd-Fe was carried out in Pd(NH3) 2Cl2:FeSO4·7H2O solution. The AAO template and the Pd0.86Fe0.14 nanowires were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) methods and X-ray diffraction (XRD). It was observed that the Pd 0.86Fe0.14 nanowires were approximately 65 nm in diameter and 10 μm in length with an aspect ratio of 153 in a relatively large area of about 4 cm2. The nucleation rate and the number of atoms in the critical nucleus are determined from the analysis of current transients.

- Crystal structure and chemical oxidation of the palladium(II) cyclam complex within the cavity of cucurbit[8]uril
-
Inclusion compound of a macrocyclic cavitand cucurbit[8]uril (C 48H48N32O16, CB[8]) with a square-planar palladium(II) complex of a polyamine ligand cyclam, {[Pd(cyclam)]@CB[8]}Cl2·16H2O (1), was synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystallography, elemental analysis, IR, and electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectrometry. The complex [Pd(cyclam)] 2+ undergoes chemical oxidation within the CB[8] cavity leading to the formation of the palladium(IV) inclusion compound {trans-[Pd(cyclam)Cl 2]@CB[8]}Cl2·14H2O (2). The Pd(II) and Pd(IV) complexes are completely encapsulated within the CB[8] cavity. The cyclam ring in 1 and 2 adopts the most stable configuration (trans-III (S,S,R,R)).

The double complex salt [Pd(NH3)4][AuCl 4]2 was synthesized and studied by X-ray diffraction: a = 7.5234(6) ?, b = 7.7909(5) ?, c = 8.0247(6) ?, α = 108.483(2)°, β = 106.497(2)°, γ = 99.972(3)°, V = 409.43(5) ?3, space group P1?, Z = 1, ρ calod = 3.456 g/cm3, R = 0.0267. The compound was characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, and IR and Raman spectroscopy. The metal products of thermolysis of the complex were studied by powder X-ray diffraction. [(NH3)2PdII(OH)2] reacts with the diol functions of erythritol. The solution equilibrium was analyzed by means of 13C NMR spectroscopy. The main species in Pd-rich solutions is the doubly metallated complex, which has been isolated in the form of yellow crystals of the formula [{(NH3)2PdII}2(μ-ErytH -4)] · 2 H2O (1). As minor solution species, monometallated complexes with 1,2-ErytH-2 and 2,3-ErytH-2 ligands were detected. Compared with the ethylenediamine analogue, [(NH3)2PdII(OH)2] is a remarkably bad cellulose solvent despite its good coordinating ability. Extensive hydrogen bonding, which may not be expected for en ligands for steric reasons, from the ammine ligands to the deprotonated alkoxide functions - resulting in lateral aggregation of the polysaccharide chains - seems to be the molecular origin of this phenomenon. - The synthesis and properties of the bicomplex compounds of ruthenium and palladium
-
The ruthenium and palladium bicomplex compounds of compositions [Pd(NH3)4[RuNOCl5], [Pd(NH3)4][RuNO(NO2)4OH], and [RuNO(NH3)4OH][PdCl4], in which the RuNO(+3) fragment is placed either in the anionic or in the cationic part of the compound, are synthesized. The composition and structure of the compounds and products of their thermal decomposition are established from derivatography; thermal, elemental, and X-ray powder analyses; IR spectroscopy; and Raman scattering data. It is found that, on heating [Pd(NH3)4][RuNOCl5], the NH3 molecules and Cl- ions are exchanged between the cationic and anionic moieties of the complex to form trans-[Pd(NH3)2Cl2] and trans-[RuNO(NH3)2Cl3].

- Voltammetric studies of Pd(II) ammonia complex: Solvent effect
-
Cyclic voltammetric reduction of palladium(II) ammonia complex has been studied in water as well as in aqueous organic solvents (acetonitrile, methanol, dimethyl sulfoxide, dimethylformamide and dioxane).Standard rate constants (ks) and energy transfer coefficients (α) have been evaluated using the theory of Nicholson and Shain. The values of voltammetric peak potential, ks and α are different in different solvents. An approximate dependence of kinetic parameters on dielectric constant of the medium has been demonstrated.
