The major electron-impact mass fragmentation patterns exhibited by 2-(N,N-dialkylamino)-4H-1-benzopyran-4-ones and -naphthopyran-4-ones have been explored using a combination of low-resolution, high-resolution and B/E linked-scan data.

A cyclodehydration route to 2-aminochromones
Cyclodehydration of a series of salicylacetamides with triflic anhydride efficiently provided the corresponding 2-aminochromone. The use of polyphosphoric ester for this process was somewhat less effective.

A Novel Synthesis of 2-Aminochromones vis Phosgeniminium Salts
A novel method for the synthesis of antiplatelet 2-aminochromones making use of the reaction of 2'-hydroxyacetophenone-BF2 complexes with phosgeniminium chlorides has been developed.Aqueous hydrolysis of the intermediate β-chlorovinylogous amide-BF2 complex affords the 2-aminochromone in good yield, without the need for chromatographic purification.
