- Synthesis and study of charge-transfer complexes for 5,6- dimethyl-2,1,3-benzoselenadiazole
-
THE SYNTHESIS.of new solid charge - transfer (CT) complexes using 5,6-dimethyl-2,l,3-benzosclnadiazoles as donors with 1,4naphthaquinone; 1,8-dihydroxy anthraquinone, 2-hydroxy-l,4naphthaquinone and 2,3-dichloro-4,5-dicyano p-benzoquinone (DDQ) as acceptor to obtain compounds I-IV, respectively are reported. These complexes are characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-Vis electronic, 1HNMR and ESR spectroscopic data. The conductivity for the solid complexes I-IV reveals that they are not conductors.

SeCl4 reacts with Ph3P=NSiMe3 (2) by elimination of SiMe3Cl to form Ph3P=NSeCl3 (3), which is converted to (Ph3P=N)2SeCl2 (4) by a further mole of (2).Compound (4) may also be prepared from (2) and SeOCl2 or Se2Cl2; (4) reacts with SbCl5 to from (Ph3P=N)

- Formation and Rearrangement of Adducts from Benzyne and Substituted 2,1,3-Benzoselenadiazoles
-
A series of 5-(1,2-benzoselenazol-3-yl)pentadienonitrile derivatives (2) has been prepared by addition of benzyne to substituted 2,1,3-benzoselenadiazoles.Some of these adducts rearrange either thermally or photochemically to give 2-(2-pyridyl)phenyl selenocyanates (7), which are reduced to 2-phenylpyridine derivatives (6) or hydrolysed to give ultimately, diselenides (9).The crystal structure of one benzyne adduct (2b) is reported and the mechanism of its rearrangement discussed.
