- Synthesis, characterization and application of reactive UV absorbers for enhancing UV protective properties of cotton fabric
-
TWO colourless reactive UV absorbers 1 and 2 were synthesized by the condensation reaction of both 2,4,6-trichlorotriazine and sulfanilinic acid with 4-aminobenzophenone and ethyl 4-aminobenzoate, respectively. The structures of UV absorbers 1 and 2 were confirmed by IR, NMR (1H and 13C), and elemental analysis. The synthesized reactive UV absorbers were applied to cotton fabric using pad-dry method in comparison with both exhaustion and microwave methods. The results showed that excellent ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) values were achieved on sodium hydroxide-treated cotton fabric using pad-dry method. The optimal conditions using pad-dry method, such as drying temperature, drying time and UV absorber concentration were discussed. It was found that the highest values of UPF and whiteness using reactive UV absorbers 1 and 2 especially after washing can be obtained in the conditions of 80 °C drying temperature, 3 hours drying time and 15 g/l UV absorber concentration. The new reactive UV absorber 1 achieved excellent UPF value (58.2) compared to UV absorber 2 which exhibited poor UPF value (10.5) at the same conditions.

- Cotton reaction type phosphorus-nitrogen-sulfur synergistic flame retardant preparation method
-
The invention relates to a cotton reaction type phosphorus-nitrogen-sulfur synergistic flame retardant preparation method. Dichloro-cyanuro sodium sulfanilate salt is added into a three-mouth flask, an appropriate amount of distilled water is poured into the three-mouth flask to serve as a solvent, the three-mouth flask is fixed into a warm water bath of a heat collection type magnetic stirrer byan iron support after uniform stirring, dimethyl hydroxy methylphosphonate water solution is dropwise added into the three-mouth flask, continuous stirring reaction is performed under a certain temperature and pH (potential of hydrogen) condition for 4 hours, and products are dried by condensation and further separated and purified to obtain reaction type phosphorus-nitrogen-sulfur synergistic flame retardants. The reaction type phosphorus-nitrogen-sulfur synergistic flame retardants can be applied to functional finishing of pure cotton fabrics, the cotton fabrics can achieve excellent flame resistance, and the flame retardants are novel functional additives.

- Preparation method of liquid fluorescent brightener for papermaking
-
The invention discloses a universal preparation method of a tetrathionate liquid fluorescent brightener which is used for papermaking and stable in quality. The brightener is prepared from p-aminobenzenesulfonic acid, cyanuric chloride, 4,4-diaminostilbene-2,2-disulfonic acid and diethanolamine as raw materials through steps including synthesis through three steps of condensation reactions as well as desalination and filtration treatment with a nanofiltration membrane filtration method. The preparation method aims to solve the problem about how to reduce variations among batches of fluorescent brightener products prepared with a batch production process, the addition manner of an acid binding agent is improved thoroughly with the adoption of a fixed flow rate method, direct mixing of reactants and the acid binding agent and the like, intervention of human factors in the reaction process is greatly reduced on the basis of existing equipment, fluctuation of the pH value of the reaction system is effectively avoided, so that the raw materials are fully and completely reacted under the stable medium condition, and the product quality is fundamentally stabilized; the preparation method adopts a simple and implementable operation process and is applicable to a treatment process of all tetrathionate fluorescent brighteners.

- Liquid fluorescent whitener and preparation method thereof
-
The invention relates to a liquid fluorescent whitener and a preparation method thereof, and belongs to the technical field of special assistants for printing, dyeing and papermaking. A technical problem to be solved is providing the liquid fluorescent whitener and the preparation method thereof. The effective component of the fluorescent whitener is 4,4'-bis[(4-anilino-6-Ramino acid)-1,3,5-triazinyl-2-yl)amino]stilbene-2,2'-tetrasulfonic acid tetrasodium salt, wherein R is a phenyl ring-containing amino acid group. The preparation method comprises the following steps: mixing 4,4'-diaminostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid with a NaOH solution to prepare a sodium 4,4'-diaminostilbene-2,2'-disulfonate solution product I, and mixing amino acids with the NaOH solution to prepare an amino acid sodium salt; adding an emulsifier, concentrated hydrochloric acid, cyanuric chloride and sodium sulfanilate to ice water, and reacting to generate a product II; adding the product I to the product II to generate a product III; and adding the amino acid sodium salt to the product III to obtain a crude whitener IV, carrying out pumping filtration, and carrying out desalting concentration to obtain the liquid fluorescent whitener.

- Novel stilbene-triazine symmetrical optical brighteners: Synthesis and applications
-
A series of new high light fastness, hot pressing fastness optical brighteners was efficiently synthesized by a three-step approach involving the successive replacement of the three chloro groups of 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5- triazine under different conditions of temperature and pH. Thus, 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine was treated with different anilines and the resulting dichlorotriazinyl intermediates (3a-I) were further condensed with 4,4-diaminostilbene-2,2′-disulfonic acid to afford bis-monochlorotriazine (5a-I) followed by nucleophilic substitution with ethanolamine to furnish the final hybrid brighteners (7a-I). All of the newly synthesized compounds were characterized by Fourier-Transform Infrared (FT-IR), UV-visible absorption, NMR spectroscopy and the elemental analyses. The synthesized optical brighteners were also assessed for their efficacy as fluorescent brightening agents.

- An approach to impart bactericidal effect to viscose fabric using ionic liquids
-
THE ANIONIC agent (AA) dichloro triazinyl amino benzene. sulphonate was prepared and applied to viscose fabrics. The pretreated fabrics were then treated with selected ionic liquids (ILs); namely 1-butyl 3-methyl imidazolium bromide (BMIB), 1-butyl 3-methyl imidazolium chloride (BMIC), 1-ethyl 3-methyl imidazolium acetate (EMIA) and 1-ethyl 3-methyl imidazolium ethyl sulphate (EMIES). Viscose fabrics treated with AA/IL system has shown excellent bacterial resistance to gram +ve and gram -ve bacteria when properly treated with the selected ionic liquid. The substantivity of the cationic agent to viscose fabric and hence the bactericidal effect, increase in the order BMIB>BMIC> EMIES>EMIA. Marvelous durability of the treated fabrics was observed after 10 washing cycles of the treated fabrics. Infrared spectroscopy as well as nitrogen content of the untreated as well as treated viscose fabrics was conducted to ensure strong and permanent fixation of both the anionic agent and the ionic liquids to the viscose fabrics.
