Compounds of the general formula I STR1 or their acid addition salts in which one of R1 and R3 is --OH and the other is hydrogen and R2 denotes C1 -C12 -alkyl, C5 -C7 -cycloalkyl, C6 -C10 -aryl or C7 -C9 -aralkyl and R4 and R5 are hydrogen, C1 -C12 -alkyl, C5 -C7 -cycloalkyl, C6 -C10 -aryl or C7 -C9 -aralkyl and R6 denotes hydrogen, C1 -C12 -alkyl, C5 -C7 -cycloalkyl, phenyl or benzyl and R7 is hydrogen or C1 -C8 -alkyl and R8 is hydrogen, oxyl, C1 -C12 -alkyl, C3 -C6 -alkenyl, C3 -C4 -alkinyl, C2 -C21 -alkoxyalkyl, C7 -C8 -aralkyl, 2,3-epoxypropyl, an aliphatic acyl group with 1-4 C atoms or one of the groups --CH2 COOR9, --CH2 --CH(R10)--OR11, --COOR12 or -- CONHR12, in which R9 is C1 -C12 -alkyl, C3 -C6 -alkenyl, phenyl, C7 -C8 -aralkyl or cyclohexyl and R10 is hydrogen, methyl or phenyl and R11 denotes hydrogen or an aliphatic or aromatic, araliphatic or alicyclic acyl group with 1-18 C atoms, in which the aromatic part can optionally be substituted by chlorine, C1 -C4 -alkyl or C1 -C8 -alkoxy and/or by hydroxyl, or a group STR2 and R12 denotes C1 -C12 -alkyl, cyclohexyl, phenyl or benzyl and X is --O-- or --NR13 --, in which R13 denotes hydrogen, C1 -C12 -alkyl, C5 -C7 -cycloalkyl or C7 -C9 -aralkyl and A is one of the groups --(Cn H2n)--, which can optionally be interrupted by --S-- or STR3 in which n denotes 0 to 12 and Y is one of the groups STR4 in which R7, R8 and X have the meaning defined above and R14 denotes C1 -C12 -alkyl, phenyl or tolyl as stabilizers for organic material.
