- (Trifluorosilyl)methyl 2-methylacrylate: Synthesis, experimental and theoretical studies
-
The novel stable organosilicon compound containing pentacoordinated silicon atom, named as (trifluorosilyl)methyl 2-methylacrylate, was synthesized and fully characterized including single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The asymmetric unit of the title compound contains two independent molecules, one of which adopting the s-cis configuration and the other has the s-trans configuration with respect to the C[dbnd]O and C[dbnd]C bonds. In the crystal, conformers form cis- and trans-dimeric pairs due to tetrel-bonding interaction and hydrogen bonds C[sbnd]H··· F. Energetic and geometric characteristics for these dimers were calculated by DFT methods at M06-2X/6-311G(d,p) level of theory using QTAIM analysis. The calculations in the polar medium (DMSO) for two dimeric fragments of crystal packing were performed with Onsager self-consistent reaction field method.

- PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF METAL SALTS OF RADICAL-POLYMERIZABLE COMPOUNDS
-
A method for manufacturing metal salts of radical-polymerizable compounds with reduced amount of water in the below-mentioned component (A) by subjecting an aqueous solution of an alkali-metal salt, alkali earth-metal salt, or a zinc salt of the radical-polymerizable compound (A) to heating under a reduced pressure in the presence of an aqueous polymerization inhibitor for removal of aqueous components by distillation from aforementioned compounds (A).

- Process for the manufacture of benzyl methacrylate and its derivatives which are halogenated or alkylated on the aromatic nucleus
-
This process for the manufacture of benzyl methacrylate and of its halogenated or alkylated derviatives by the reaction of benzyl chloride or of one of its halogenated or alkylated derivatives with an alkali metal methacrylate is characterized in that the reaction is carried out in the presence of not more than 3 mol %, based on the benzyl chloride or a derivative, of a tertiary amine. The alkali metal is chosen especially from lithium, potassium and sodium. The tertiary amine is preferably a tertiary diamine of general formula: STR1 in which n is an integer ranging from 1 to 10 and R1, R2, R3 and R4, which are identical or different, are alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl radicals containing from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, functionalized if appropriate and, if appropriate, such that they form a heterocyclic ring with the nitrogen atom(s) carrying them.
