(N2H6)3TaF8TaF7HF2and Na7TaF8(TaF7)2: Novel fluoride tantalates with different isolated anionic polyhedra
The reaction of hydrazinium difluoride and TaF5in 66% hydrofluoric acid water solution resulted in the formation of rather unusual (N2H6)3TaF8TaF7HF2compound. Similar procedure started from a TaF5[sbnd]NaF mixture performed in 35% HF water solution resulted in the formation of a Na7TaF8(TaF7)2compound. Synthesis, crystal structures and Raman spectra of these new compounds are reported in this communication. The main feature of both compounds is the presence of discrete TaF83?and TaF72?anions in their crystal structures, which was also confirmed by Raman spectroscopy.
CATALYTIC FLUORINATION PROCESS OF MAKING HYDROHALOALKANE
The present disclosure provides a fluorination process which involves reacting a hydrohaloalkene of the formula RfCCl=CH2 with HF in a reaction zone in the presence of a fluorination catalyst selected from the group consisting of TaF5 and TiF4 to produce a product mixture containing a hydrohaloalkane of the formula RfCFClCH3, wherein Rf is a perfluorinated alkyl group.

Chemical interaction of fluoropolymers with transition metals
Chemical interaction of transition metals (Mo, W, Ta, Nb, and Ti) with a tetrafluoroethylene-vinylidene fluoride (TFE-VDF) copolymer (21 mol % TFE + 79 mol % VDF) has been studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and mass spectrometry. The DSC c

Reactivity of Tin Difluoride
A new value of the enthalpy of formation of tin difluoride was used to calculate the thermodynamic parameters of reactions of SnF2 with elemental substances and several metal oxides. SnF2 can act as an oxidizer and is useful for the synthesis of higher fluorides of group III-V transition metals, including those that have previously been prepared only by reactions with elemental fluorine (TiF4, NbF5, TaF5). The fact that such reactions occur was verified experimentally.

The infrared spectra of products of tantalum and ruthenium reactions with fluorine isolated in solid argon
The IR spectra of the products formed when molecular fluorine was passed over tantalum and ruthenium heated to 100-1100°C and isolated in inert matrices at 12 K were studied. In the Ta + F2 system, bands of (TaF5)3, TaF5, and TaF4 were observed. In the Ru + F2 system, the major reaction product was monomeric ruthenium pentafluoride. The structures of metal fluorides of various compositions are discussed.
