NMR is highly powerful and is the most versatile technique for investigating structural and dynamic aspects of biological molecules and their interactions in solution. The SCSB NMR Center is located in its own two-story building on the University of Texas Medical Branch campus in Galveston, Texas (building 73 on the campus map). Current instrumentation includes a Varian Inova 600 MHz, and Varian NMR System 750 and 800 MHz magnets. All three instruments are in the process of being upgraded to Bruker Avance III consoles, with cryogenic probes for 800 and 600 MHz instruments. The NMR instruments are capable of various multi-dimensional 1H/2H/13C/15N/31P NMR experiments, and allow us to study structural and dynamic behaviors of proteins, nucleic acids, and other biomacromolecules at an atomic level.
NMR Specrometer scheduling, for qualified users, is available on-line. Several groups in the SCSB have developed software for the analysis of NMR data. Some of these programs, such as MORASS and DIAMOD (MPACK), are available on our NMR software pages. Other software programs are listed on the SCSB Software page.
