  • Women Should Pay More Attention to Diet During the Menopause
  • Menopause is a special period for the women. During this period, women are very likely to suffer from some common symptoms such as hectic fever, night sweat, irritability, insomnia, laziness, osteoporosis, and so on. These symptoms, to some extent, affect women's daily life and work. As a result, women should look for immediate treatment, so as to alleviate the symptoms of climacteric syndrome. One of the most effective ways is to keep a proper and balanced diet. Generally speaking, women should pay attention to the following six points in daily diet during the menopause.

    1. Take in adequate high-quality protein. During the menopause, with the degeneration of sexual gland, other tissues and organs also gradually become vestigial. Therefore, women should take in more high-quality protein in daily diet. Foods rich in high-quality protein include milk, egg, lean meat, fish, poultry and soy products.

    2. Take in less high-fat foods, such as cream, butter, egg yolk, animal livers, and so on. This is because these foods contain a large number of saturated fatty acids, which can significantly increase the concentration of blood cholesterol, thus promoting the formation of arteriosclerosis. It is best to eat vegetable oil, such as corn oil, soybean oil, peanut oil, etc.

    3. Limit the intake of salt. When women are during the menopause, they often suffer from high blood pressure and atherosclerosis. While salt contains a lot of sodium, so eating too much salt can cause burden on the heart and increase the viscosity of the blood, thus raising the blood pressure. It is best to control the intake of salt below 6 grams every day.

    4. Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, especially Chinese cabbage, celery, jujube, hawthorn, and so on. Because these vegetables and fruits contains a high content of beta-carotene, inorganic salt and cellulose, so they can increase the toughness of the blood vessels, promote the elimination of the cholesterol in the blood, and prevent atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease.

    5. Eat more foods containing plenty of calcium. The first choice are milk and soy products. Other foods rich in calcium include shrimp skin, kelp, laver, oyster, and so on. These foods can prevent osteoporosis.

    6. Eat more foods rich in vitamin B1, such as lean meat, millet, beans, and so on, which are very beneficial to protect the nervous system and reduce the symptoms of menopause syndrome.

What's more, women should also keep away from alcohol, strong tea and coffee. This is because women always suffer from emotional instability during menopause, while these drinks can make them excited and aggravate the symptoms.
