  • Babies Should Eat Desserts Scientifically
  • Many mothers do not want to give too many desserts to their babies, as they think desserts are unbeneficial to the babies’ teeth and health. In fact, desserts also play an important role in keeping the babies healthy. They can not only provide the essential energy for the babies, but also participate in various metabolism activities and accelerate the synthesis of protein. In addition, sugar contained in desserts can also raise the abilities of response, memory and comprehension for the babies.

Mothers are always worried about the teeth of their babies if the babies always eat desserts. The formation of decayed teeth is caused by excessive intake of sugar and unclean oral cavity. The bacteria in oral cavity can be integrated with left foods in the mouth to form dental plaque. The sugar contained in desserts can be decomposed into acid by bacteria. Then the acid left on dental plaque can destroy the protective layer of teeth called "enamel". The long-term hurt of enamel can cause decayed teeth. However, this does not mean sugar can always hurt the teeth. After the babies eat sugar, mothers should ask them to brush the teeth in time. In addition, mothers should bring the babies to check the teeth in hospital regularly.

Some mothers are also afraid that desserts can make their babies fat. The absorption of sugar by the human body is rather rapid. And the sugar inside the human body can be easily transformed into fat. In addition, excessive intake of sugar can affect the appetite of the babies. Thus, the intake of other nutrients like protein has to be reduced, which can affect the normal growth of the babies. Therefore, mothers should help the babies form a balanced dietary habit and control the intake of sugar.

Some people say that the babies should not eat Honey. Honey is a kind of food which contains nearly 100% of sugar. Therefore, honey can cause the same problems as sugar. The new-born babies should not eat honey, as honey contains a kind of botulism toxin. Little babies have no ability to control such a kind of toxin.

In addition, the intake of excessively processed sugar should be controlled, as this kind of sugar do not contain vitamins, minerals and protein and affect the normal intake of healthy foods of the babies. In fact, breast milk contains sugar. The amount of sugar in breast milk can supplement adequate sugar for the babies younger than 6 months.
