Preparation of Decamethyltetrasiloxane: It can be obtained by dichloro-dimethyl-silane and chloro-trimethyl-silane. This reaction needs reagent water and solvent toluene at temperature of 20 °C. The reaction time is 27 hours. The yield is 20%.
Uses of Decamethyltetrasiloxane: It is used as MDM in the production of silicone rubber and silicone oil and as FTJ in industrial powder. It also can be used to produce fluoropentamethyldisiloxane, fluoro-trimethyl-silane and difluoro-dimethyl-silane. This reaction needs reagent NaHF2 at temperature of 120 °C. The reaction time is 9 min. The yield is 34.2%.
