    Occurrence:
    U.S. (Virginia, Georgia, Arkansas, Lake Superior region, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Mexico), Germany, Australia, India, Canada.
     
    Use:
    Manganese ore. For many uses the ore and synthetic material are interchangeable, but pyrolusite is not usable for batteries.
