Fensulfothion Specification

Fensulfothion ,with its CAS Registry Number 115-90-2, its IUPAC Name is Diethoxy-(4-methylsulfinylphenoxy)-sulfanylidene-λ5-phosphane . It is also named as Chemagro 25141 ; Daconit ; Dasanit ; Diethyl p-methylsulfinylphenyl thiophosphate ; O,O-Diaethyl-O-(4-methylsulfinyl-phenyl)-thionophosphat ; Phenol, p-(methylsulfinyl)-, O-ester with O,O-diethyl phosphorothioate . And Fensulfothion is a yellow-brown liquid storge at room temperature which is  0-6 °C and is relatively stable. Besides, it is slightly soluble in water and can hydrolyze in alkali, isomerize in air. So it is incompatible with alkali chemicals.

Organothiophosphates, such as Fensulfothion , are susceptible to formation of highly toxic and flammable phosphine gas in the presence of strong reducing agents such as hydrides. Furthermore, Fensulfothion was used against soil nematodes and a broad spectrum of soil-borne insects in field crops, vegetables and fruit. It is also used against nematodes in turf grasses, flowers and ornamental plants.

Partial oxidation by oxidizing agents may result in the release of toxic phosphorus oxides. In additon, Fensulfothion displays cholinesterase inhibiting properties. Death results primarily from respiratory arrest stemming from failure of the respiratory center, paralysis of respiratory muscles and intense bronchoconstriction. And Fensulfothion may burn but may not ignite readily. Containers may explode in heat of fire. Toxic fumes of phosphorus and sulfur oxides are emitted when heated highly. The toxicity of Fensulfothion as follow:
