Humic acid is one of the major components of humic substances. It can be found in peat, coal, many upland streams, dystrophic lakes and ocean water.
Humic Acid are highly decomposed organic materials that have fossilized over a period of millions of years. Humic Acid are also referred to as "humic substances" and are used as soil conditioners, soil supplements, and fertilizer amendments.
A liquid humic acid is extracted from Leonardite.

Since the end of the 18th century, humic substances have been designated as humic acid, fulvic acid or humin.

Modern investigations have found that the humic acid is released from straw when the straw is mixed with mud and that this strengthens the material, which produces stronger bricks that are less likely to break or lose their shape.
