Methadone hydrochloride Safety Profile

A human poison by ingestion. Poison experimentally by ingestion, subcutaneous, intravenous, parenteral, and intraperitoneal routes. Human systemic effects by ingestion: antipsychotic effects and analgesia. An experimental teratogen. Experimental reproductive effects. Mutation data reported. An analgesic and FDA proprietary drug. A synthetic drug whose action is similar to that of morphine and heroin, and is almost as addictive. Caution: Abuse leads to habituation or addiction. When heated to decomposition it emits very toxic fumes of Cl and NOx. See also METHADONE; dl-METHADONE; l-METHADONE; d-METHADONE HYDROCHLORIDE; dl-METHADONE HYDROCHLORIDE; l-METHADONE HYDROCHLORIDE.
