Preparation of Methyl indole-3-carboxylate: this chemical can be prepared by 2,2,2-Trichloro-1-indol-3-yl-ethanone and Methanol.



This reaction needs 30percent aq. KOH by heating for 30 min. The yield is 86 %.

Uses of Methyl indole-3-carboxylate: it can react with 1-Bromo-4-chloro-butane to get 1-(4-Chloro-butyl)-1H-indole-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester.



This reaction needs 87percent KOH and Dimethylsulfoxide at room temperature. The yield is 84 %.
