Preparation of OrthoOrthoboric acid: this chemical can be prepared by the reaction of Sodium tetraborate decahydrate with Hydrochloric acid:
Na2B4O7.10H2O + 2 HCl → 4 B(OH)3 + 2 NaCl + 5 H2O

Uses of OrthoOrthoboric acid: this chemical is used for minor burns or cuts as an antiseptic. It is also used for acne treatment as an anti-bacterial. Its buffer is widely used for the electrophoresis of nucleic acids. What's more, it can be used as an insecticide to prevent and destroy existing wet and dry rot in timbers. It also can be used to lubricate carrom boards. It is mainly used for the manufacture of monofilament fiberglass usually referred to as textile fiberglass in industry. And it is used as a neutron poison to slow down the rate at which fission is occurring in nuclear power plants. Furthermore, it is often used to reduce surface oxidation and firescale from forming on metals during annealing and soldering operations in combination with denatured alcohol. It is also used in the production of the glass in LCD flat panel displays.

When you are using this chemical, please be cautious about it as the following: it is irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. And you should wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection. Moreover, it is risk of impaired fertility. It is also possible risk of harm to the unborn child. Please do not breathe dust. And avoid exposure - obtain special instructions before use. Additionally, in case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately (show the label whenever possible.)
