Petrolatum

The systematic name of Petrolatum is Petrolatum. With the CAS registry number 8009-03-8, it is also named as Cosmoline. The product's category is UVCBs-organic, and the other registry numbers are 8027-32-5; 8038-17-3; 8040-87-7; 8040-97-9; 8041-83-6; 8044-23-3; 8044-24-4; 8044-44-8; 8044-45-9; 8044-46-0; 8057-56-5; 8063-27-2. Besides, it is clear to white solid, which is insoluble in water. It does not oxidize on exposure to the air and is not readily acted on by chemical reagents. And this chemical is soluble in dichloromethane, chloroform, benzene, diethyl ether, carbon disulfide and oil of turpentine. Furthermore, this chemical is a semi-solid mixture which prepared by residual oil, Sulfuric acid and carclazyte.

Uses of Petrolatum: this chemical can be used to promote Vaseline primarily as an ointment for scrapes, burns, and cuts. It is also  used as a personal lubricant. What's more, the product is used as softener for cuticles and release agent for plaster molds and castings. It also can be used to soften hardened leather, coat corrosion-prone items and finish wood. And it can be used to prevent the hair dye staining the skin when using a home hair dye kit.
