Potassium bromide Specification

The Potassium bromide, with the CAS registry number 7758-02-3,is also known as Potassium tert-butylate; Potassium tert-butoxide; KtB. It belongs to the product categories of Bromide salt of potassium.Its EINECS number is 231-830-3. This chemical's molecular formula is KBr and molecular weight is 119.00. What's more,Its systematic name is Potassium bromide.It is a odourless white or colourless crystalline solid which is stable,incompatible with strong oxidizing agents,strong acids,bromine trifluoride and bromine trichloride.It is widely used as an anticonvulsant and a sedative in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Potassium bromide is presently used as a veterinary drug, as an antiepileptic medication for dogs and cats.

Production of Potassium bromide:
A traditional method for the manufacture of potassium bromide is the reaction of potassium carbonate with a bromide of iron, Fe3Br8, made by treating scrap iron under water with excess bromine:
4 K2CO3 + Fe3Br8 → 8 KBr + Fe3O4 + 4 CO2

You can still convert the following datas into molecular structure:
(1)SMILES:[K+].[Br-];
(2)Std. InChI:InChI=1S/BrH.K/h1H;/q;+1/p-1;
(3)Std. InChIKey:IOLCXVTUBQKXJR-UHFFFAOYSA-M.

Safety Information of Potassium bromide:
The Potassium bromide is irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin .In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice .When you use it ,wear suitable protective clothing ang eye/face protection .In case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately (show label where possible) .This chemical is danger to the environment ,avoid release to the environment. Refer to special instructions safety data sheet. Keep container tightly closed and in a well-ventilated place .
