Analytical Methods

Method One: It is obtained from potassium hydroxide and iodine direct reaction.
Method Two: In dilute nitric acid medium, it can be obtained from direct oxidation of potassium chlorate and iodine.

Specification

 Potassium iodate , with CAS number of 7758-05-6, can be called Iodicacid (HIO3) , potassiumsalt ; Iodicacid [HIO3] , potassiumsalt ; Potassiumiodineoxide (KIO3) ; Potassiu iodate ; Csk standard solution potassium iodate ; Iodic acid potassium salt ; Potassium iddate ; Potassium iodate standard solution . It is soluble in water and also soluble in dilute sulphuric acid but not soluble in ethanol. It is Sensitive. But it should avoid include organics, combustibles, phosphorus, sulfur, carbon, powdered metals, cyanides, hydrides, strong reducing agents, aluminium, peroxides. It will explode when mixed with combustible material. Potassium iodate (CAS NO.7758-05-6) can be used as livestock feed additives, medicinal iodizedcompound, wheat flour finishingagent and dough modifier. Secondly it is also used as analytical reagent, oxidizer and redoxtitrant.
