Semicarbazide Uses

Semicarbazide (57-56-7) is used as a detection reagent on thin layer chromatography (TLC). It stains α-keto acids on the TLC plate, which must then be viewed under a UV light to see the results.

Semicarbazide Production

Raw materials: Urea → Hydrazine Sulfate → Sodium Cyanate → Semicarbazide Hydrochloride
Preparation Products:  Hydrocortisone → 4'-Methylacetophenone → Semicarbazide Hydrochloride → Civetone → 2,6-Dihydroxypurine → Nitrofurantoin → Menthone → 3-Methylcyclopentadecanone → Mitoguazone → 4-Phenylurazole → Acetone Semicarbazone
