Uses
Sodium dodecyl sulfate (CAS NO.151-21-3) is a highly effective surfactant used in any task requiring the removal of oily stains and residues. It is used in lower concentrations with toothpastes, shampoos, shaving foams, some dissolvable aspirins, enemas, and fiber therapy caplets. Sodium lauryl sulfate can also be used to aid in lysing cells during DNA extraction and for unraveling proteins in SDS-PAGE.
