DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 73 (Optical, Electron, and Mass Spectroscopy and Other Related Properties) The vibrational spectrum of Na2HPO4.2H2O suggests the existence of 2 different types of H2O mols. The non-degenerate PO3 sym. stretching is obsd. at 952 cm-1 with a shoulder at 990 cm-1. The doubly degenerate nas (PO3+) mode is obsd. as a sharp well resolved doublet both in the IR and Raman spectra. In the OH stretching region of H2O, 2 well resolved doublets were obsd. in the IR and Raman spectrum, indicating the presence of 2 distinct types of H2O mols. in the crystal. .
