The exposure to light results in formation of neg. blue images, and subsequent NH3 treatment makes the exposed area transparent while the unexposed area becomes orange. Meanwhile, when the unexposed material is NH3-treated, and subsequently exposed to light, neg. blue images are formed on an orange background, and the images can be erased by retreating with NH3; hence the material can be used repeatedly. Thus, p-diazodiphenylamine tetrafluoroborate 0.75 g and m-hydroxydiphenylamine (coupler) 0.5 g were dissolved in 150 g of a 10% vinyl acetate-vinyl chloride copolymer soln. [in THF-BuOH (3:2) mixt.] and coated on a glass plate which was exposed to a Hg lamp (3000-5000 .ANG.) to give neg. bluish green (6450 .ANG.) images on a yellow (4000 .ANG.) background, and subsequently treated with NH3 to give orange (4900 .ANG.) pos. images with a transparent background. Both the blue images (before NH3 treatment) and orange images were stable under normal room light. When a similarly prepd. diazo material was treated with NH3 prior to exposure, the material could be used repeatedly to form neg. bluish green images on an orange background. .
