- Germination and growth of some rhizospheric fungi as affected by two cadmium salts. Ismail, I. M.In this study, 10124-36-4 and 10325-94-7 are also used. K.; Ali, M. I. Aa.; Sharaf, E. F. (Fac. Sci., Univ. Cairo, Cairo, Egypt). Rev. Ecol. Biol. Sol, 23(2), 197-204 (English) 1986. CODEN: REBSA4. ISSN: 0035-1822. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) The effect of CdSO4 and Cd(NO3)2 at 50-1000 ppm on fungal spore germination and growth was detd.; Rhizopus oryzae germination was not much affected by either salt at 50 or 100 ppm, whereas 1000 ppm completely inhibited germination. Cladosporium herbarum Germination was decreased by both salts even at 50 ppm. Germination of Aspergillus terreus, Paecilomyces divaricata, Curvularia tetramera, and Fusarium oxysporum spores was not completely inhibited by Cd(NO3)2 even at 1000 ppm, but CdSO4 was 100% effective in preventing germination of these fungi. Mycelial growth of all the fungi was reduced by both salts in a dose-dependent manner; the nitrate was generally less toxic than the sulfate. .
