DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) The title para-xylylenes had mild cytotoxic and fibrogenic properties and they caused no irritation of the skin or eye mucosa. All had a low cumulation property. The intoxication symptoms of the 3 xylylenes were similar and showed characteristics of toxicity to the nervous system. Considering general toxicity and embryotoxicity the chronic action threshold of the xylylenes was 10 mg/m3. The recommended max. concn. of the xylylenes in working zone is 5 mg/m3 [aerosol, class III type (moderately toxic) material]. .
