CODEN: 57HAAD. DOCUMENT TYPE: Conference CA Section: 36 (Physical Properties of Synthetic High Polymers) Section cross-reference(s): 75 A series of rigid-rod poly(p-phenylene 2,5-dialkoxyterephthalates) was studied in order to det. the structure and properties of the polyesters in various states (solid, mesophase, melt). Various supermol. structures were obtained depending on the length of the alkoxy groups and on the prepn. conditions of the samples. The relaxation behavior of the polymers was investigated by dynamic mech. measurements. Complex relaxation spectra were obsd. There are some commonly used reagents with their cas registry numbers 103728-28-5 and 103761-96-2 in this article. and the assignments of mol. motions and structural rearrangements to these relaxation transitions were made. The rheol. behavior studied in the mesophase and in the melt indicated that in some polymers typical liq. cryst. properties could be obsd., for example the flow-thinning effect. Large deformations of polymer films as well as the structure and mech. strength of oriented samples were also studied. .
