DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 52 (Electrochemical, Radiational, and Thermal Energy Technology) Section cross-reference(s): 68, 76 The system Li2SO4-ZnSO4 has 2 rotator phases which are solid electrolytes: fcc. Li2SO4 and noncubic Li4Zn(SO4)3. Up to 33 mol% ZnSO4 is sol. in the fcc. phase, and its amt. in the noncubic phase is 17-43%. For the compn. Li1.33Zn0.33SO4 the elec. cond. is 1/W-cm at 550° and the resp. diffusion coeffs. for Li+ nd Zn2+ are 1.30 ′ 10-5 and 0.14 ′ 10-5 cm2/S. For the eutectoid Li1.2Zn0.4SO4 the latent heat of the phase transition at 459° is 252.2 kJ/mol. A monoclinic cell is proposed for the phase LiZn0.5SO4 which is stable at £468°. .
