Preparation and Thermal, Spectroscopic, and Antibacterial Studies of Some Mixed-Ligand Complexes
Preparation and Thermal, Spectroscopic, and Antibacterial Studies of Some Mixed-Ligand Complexes. Panchal, Pragnesh K.; Patel, D. H.; Patel, M. N. (Department of Chemistry, Sardar Patel University, Gujarat, Vallabh Vidyanagar, India). Synthesis and Reactivity in Inorganic and Metal-Organic Chemistry, 34(7), 1223-1235 (English) 2004 Marcel Dekker, Inc. CODEN: SRIMCN. ISSN: 0094-5714. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 78 (Inorganic Chemicals and Reactions) Section cross-reference(s): 10 The present study reports the synthesis, characterization, and antibacterial activities of the mixed-ligand complexes [ML(SB)H2O], where M = Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), and Cd(II), SB1 = bis(benzylidene)ethylenediamine (benen) or SB2 = bis(1-phenylethylidene)ethylenediamine (acphen) and KHL = potassium salt of salicylideneglycine (salgly). Their structures were elucidated from elemental and thermogravimetric analyses, magnetic measurements, and reflectance and IR spectra. The results are in accord with an octahedral environment around the central metal ion. The mixed-ligand complexes of Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) are paramagnetic while the Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes are diamagnetic. In this experiment, several chemicals are used like 2233-83-2 and 104-71-2 The mixed-ligand complexes were tested against bacteria and the results are compared with a std. drug (tetracycline) and control (DMSO). .
Preparation of Schiff base complexes of Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), and Cd(II) and their spectroscopic, magnetic, thermal, and antifungal studies
Parekh, H. M.; Patel, M. N. (Department of Chemistry, Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat 388120, India). Russian Journal of Coordination Chemistry, 32(6), 431-436 (English) 2006 Pleiades Publishing, Inc. CODEN: RJCCEY. ISSN: 1070-3284. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 78 (Inorganic Chemicals and Reactions) Section cross-reference(s): 10, 25, 27, 73, 77 The potassium salt of salicylidene-DL-alanine (KHL), bis(benzylidene)ethylenediamine (A1), toluidiniminothiophene (A2) and their transition metal complexes of the formula [MII(L)(A)(H2O)] (M = Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), and Cd(II); A = A1 or A2) were prepd. They were characterized by elemental anal., magnetic susceptibility measurements, thermogravimetric anal., IR and electronic spectral studies. The electronic spectral and magnetic moment data suggest an octahedral geometry for the complexes. The complexes, metal nitrates, fungicides (bavistin and emcarb) and ligands were screened for their antifungal activity against Aspergillus niger, Fusarium oxysporum and Aspergillus flavus using a plate poison technique. 104-71-2 is just another one chemical used in this study. The complexes show higher activity than those of the free ligands, metal nitrates and the control (DMSO) and moderate activity against bavistin and emcarb. .
