Thus, CS2 reacted with Na in DMF to give a mixt. of (NaS)2CS and dithiole II. The crude mixt. was treated with ZnCl2 and Bu4N+Br- to give a Zn complex of II which was benzoylated, debenzoylated, and alkylated with 1-bromononane. The product was desulfurized with Hg(OAc)2 in HOAc, followed by reductive dimerization with P(OMe)3 to give I (A1-A8 = S, R1-R4 = nonyl) (III). III crystals exhibited a sp. resistance of 107 W-cm along the a axis. Crystal structures and ionization potentials of I were detd. .

Both 1 and 2 crystallize in the triclinic system, space group P1, with one mol.There are some reagents with their cas registry numbers 104515-79-9 and 184046-08-0 are used in this study. per unit cell. 1: A 12.065(4), b 12.644(3), c 8.988(2) ?, a 103.54(2), b 90.24(2), g 112.42(2)°. 2: A 12.330(3), b 12.647(2), c 8.956(2) ?, a 101.72(2), b 94.66(2), g 111.69(1)°. Both structures consist of two segregated stacks of TTC2-TTF+ donors and Cu2X62- acceptors assocd. via short S×××X contacts. Consistent with the structural results, the two compds. exhibit low elec. cond. with s25°C being 4 ′ 10-8 and 8 ′ 10-8 S cm-1 for 1 and 2, resp. .
