Thus, a mixt. of 60% polypropylene [9003-07-0], 40% Mg(OH)2 and 3 parts quinacridone (I) [1047-16-1] was kneaded and compression molded to give a product with improved flame resistance compared with a control when I was omitted.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 40 (Dyes, Fluorescent Whitening Agents, and Photosensitizers) Section cross-reference(s): 22, 42, 73 The solid colors and absorption spectra of quinacridone (I) [1047-16-1], pyrido[2,1-b]pyrido[1',2':1,2]pyrimido[4,5-g]quinazoline-7,15-dione (II) [52000-72-3], and pyrido[1',2':1,2]pyrimido[4,5-b]acridine-7,15-dione (III) [70243-37-7], and some derivs. of these were investigated to det. the relationship between color and structure. The bathochromic shift obsd. in the solid state followed the order I > II > III, while the absorption max. in concd. H2SO4 soln. increased in the order I > III > II. Substituents on II and III had little effect on their solid colors and absorption band wavelengths. In contrast, the solid colors of quinacridone derivs. varied with the positions of substituents, but this was not necessarily the case with with absorption band wavelengths. Colors of quinacridone derivs. apparently are greatly affected by the steric hindrance of substituents to intermol. H bonding.
