A polyester [26141-00-4] obtained from isophthalic acid 1.0, adipic acid 1.0, and neopentyl glycol 3 mol. was reacted with 2 mol. hexamethylene diisocyanate [822-06-0] and II to give an unsatd. resin (IV), which (700 parts) was mixed 150 parts hydroxypropyl methacrylate (V) [27813-02-1] and 150 parts 2-ethylhexyl acrylate (VI) [103-11-7] to give a varnish. The IV-V-VI varnish 300, a poly(vinyl chloride) (VII) [9002-86-2] varnish (300 parts VII dissolved in a mixt. of 600 parts MeCOEt and 100 parts hydroxypropyl acrylate [25584-83-2]) 200, an acrylic resin (VIII) varnish (400 parts VIII dissolved in 600 parts BuOAc) 300, neopentyl glycol dimethacrylate [1985-51-9] 10, TiO2 200, and a Zn-Cr pigment 50 parts were dispersed to give an undercoating compn. The I-II-III varnish 2000, the IV-V-VI varnish 6000, the VIII varnish 1500, and a vinyl acetate copolymer (IX) varnish (300 parts IX dissolved in a mixt. of 200 parts PhMe and 500 parts VI) 500, hydroxyethyl methacrylate [868-77-9] 500, and TiO2 5000 parts were dispersed to give a topcoating compn. A galvanized steel panel was coated with the undercoating compn. and heated 40 sec at 130.degree., and the topcoating compn. was coated on the undercoating film at 120.degree., set 20 sec, and exposed to electron-beams (5 Mrad) to give a cured flexible resin coating film. .

When the peeled surfaces were washed with Et acrylate, a substantial amt. of insol. crosslinked material remained.
