- Copolymerization behavior of N-vinylimidazole with various dialkyl maleates and fumarates. Tanaka, Jiro; Yamada, Akira (Dep. Eng., Tokai Univ., Hiratsuka 259-12, Japan). J. Macromol. Some commonly used reagents like 100-42-5 and 14595-35-8 are used in this experiment. Sci., Chem., A21(2), 253-65 (English) 1984. CODEN: JMCHBD. ISSN: 0022-233X. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 35 (Chemistry of Synthetic High Polymers) N-Vinylimidazole (I) [1072-63-5] was copolymd. with dialkyl maleates (II) and fumarates (III) to investigate quant. the deviation from the Alfrey-Price Q-e scheme as a function of steric hindrance or collision frequency. Since there was no particular correlation obsd. between the deviations from the Alfrey-Price Q-e scheme (1947-1948) of II and III and the bulkiness of these monomers in their polymn. with I, the copolymn. reactivities could be understood by the collision theory. II were affected more than III in this regard. .

- Copolymerization of 1-vinylimidazole with 4-vinylpyridine. Skvortsova, G. G.; Skushnikova, A. I.; Domnina, E. S.; Brodskaya, E. I. (Irkutsk. Inst. Org. Khim., Irkutsk, USSR). Vysokomol. Soedin., Ser. A, 19(9), 2091-6 (Russian) 1977. CODEN: VYSAAF. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 35 (Synthetic High Polymers) MO calcns. and data obtained in copolymn. of 1-vinylimidazole (I) [1072-63-5] with 4-vinylpyridine (II) [100-43-6] indicated higher reactivity of II relative to I. The copolymn. was preformed in EtOH at 60.degree. and was initiated by AIBN. The monomer reactivity ratios of I and II were r1 = 0.21 and r2 = 1.07, and the Q and e values of I and II were Q1 = 0.60, e1 = 1.02 and Q2 = 0.82 and e2 = -20.20, resp. The formation probabilities of various monomer sequences in I-II copolymers [64433-14-3], and the diagrams illustrating the dependence of the compn. of the copolymers on conversion and the initial monomer ratios were given.
