Org. Chem. Org.-Chem. Technol., Tech. Univ. Graz, Graz, Austria). Makromol. Chem., 178(6), 1699-706 (German) 1977. CODEN: MACEAK. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 35 (Synthetic High Polymers) 1,4-Polybutadiene [9003-17-2] was aralkylated with p-MeC6H4F [352-32-9], o- [95-49-8], m- [108-41-8], and p-MeC6H4Cl [106-43-4], p-BrC6H4Me [106-38-7], 2-chloro-p-xylene [95-72-7], and 2,4- [95-73-8] and 3,4-dichlorotoluene [95-75-0] in the presence of dicumyl peroxide [80-43-3]. The IR spectra of the products were detd., and the polymers were metathesized by 4-octene [592-99-4] and the products identified by gas chromatog.-mass spectroscopy. Aralkylation was accompanied by methylation.
- Electrochemical oxidation of monochloro-substituted derivatives of toluene in the presence of cobalt bromide and n-butyraldehyde
- Electrochemical oxidation of monochloro-substituted derivatives of toluene in the presence of cobalt bromide and n-butyraldehyde. Solomin, A. V.; Antropova, V. I.; Popova, T. N. (Kas. Gos. Univ., Alma-Ata, USSR). Elektrokhimiya, 20(8), 1109-10 (Russian) 1984. CODEN: ELKKAX. ISSN: 0424-8570. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 72 (Electrochemistry) Section cross-reference(s): 25 The direct electrochem. synthesis was carried out of m-chlorobenzoic acid [535-80-8] and p-chlorobenzoic acid [74-11-3] by oxidn. of emulsions of m-chlorotoluene [108-41-8] and p-chlorotoluene [106-43-4] in 3.7N H2SO4 on a Pt anode. The rate of the process was increased by introducing into the anolyte an O carrier, CoBr2 [7789-43-7]. The activity of the CoBr2 substantially increased in the presence of n-butyraldehyde [123-72-8] (0.10-0.15M). The expts. were conducted at optimal c.d. of 1000 A/m2 and temp. 35° in a cell with a diaphragm. The emulsion of chloro-substituted toluene in H2SO4 was produced by the energetic mixing of the anolyte. The concn. of CoBr2 was 1.0% of the wt. of the chloro-substituted toluene. In the reaction products, there are present meta and para isomers of chlorobenzaldehyde (up to 1.0% yield with respect to current), as well as peroxide compds. in quantities sufficient for their polarog. study.
