Of 69 identified compds., 9 were detected for the 1st time: estragole [140-67-0], neryl acetate [141-12-8], geranyl butyrate [106-29-6] and isovalerate [109-20-6], methyl isoeugenol [93-16-3], (E,Z)-farnesyl acetate [24163-98-2], (Z,E)- [3790-71-4], (E,Z)- [3879-60-5], E,E-farnesol [106-28-5]. Oxygen-contg. components comprise ~90-95% of the oil. Geraniol [106-24-1] was the major component (76-83%) with linalool [78-70-6] (2-4%) and geranyl acetate [105-87-3] (5-12%) present in smaller amts., and others in minor amts. Statistical anal. showed a high pos. correlation between some monoterpenes and a high neg. correlation between (Z,E)-farnesyl acetate and various monoterpenes and between geraniol and geranyl acetate.Except for chemicals metioned above, 140-67-0 is also used. .

Inflorescences and total aerial parts harvested during flowering contained ￡0.56 and 0.2-0.3% essential oil, resp. Seasonal fluctuations of the oil components are given. .
