DOCUMENT TYPE: Conference CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) Nonsteroidal antiinflammatory agents inhibited the synthesis of prostaglandin [11000-26-3] in microsomal tissues isolated from guinea pig gut, bovine seminal vesicles and cerebral cortex. The inhibitory activity was closely correlated with antiinflammatory and antipyretic activities, but less distinctly with analgesic activity. Tricyclic psychoactive compds. also inhibited prostaglandin synthesis. The inhibitory activity has some significance in elucidating the mode of action of these drugs. .
