Organometallics, 21(23), 4993-4999 (English) 2002 American Chemical Society. CODEN: ORGND7. ISSN: 0276-7333. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 29 (Organometallic and Organometalloidal Compounds) Section cross-reference(s): 23, 75 The ring-opening reaction of meso-4,5-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-one or (4S,5S)-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-one with NaCp yields the sodium hydroxyalkoxycarbonylcyclopentadienides Na[rac-C5H4CO2(CHMe)2OH] (1) and Na[(1S,2S)-C5H4CO2(CHMe)2OH] (2). Complexes of rhodium and iron have been prepd., and the x-ray mol. structures of [Rh{(1R,2S)-CpCO2(CHMe)2OH}(NBD)] (7) and [Rh{(1S,2S)-CpCO2(CHMe)2OH}(NBD)] (8) are reported. The rhodium complexes are catalytically active in the hydroformylation of hex-1-ene. Heptanal is the prevailing product with a regioselectivity up to 70%, while the residual olefin is mainly isomerized. .

- A study on the determination method of heptanal in workplace. Zhang, Zhi-hu; Shao, Hua; Feng, Bin (Shandong Academy of Occupational Health and Occupational Medicine, Jinan 250062, Peop. Rep. China). Zhongguo Weisheng Jianyan Zazhi, 15(9), 1035-1036 (Chinese) 2005 Zhongguo Weisheng Jianyan Zazhishe. CODEN: ZWJZA7. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 59 (Air Pollution and Industrial Hygiene) Objective: To establish a useful method for sampling and detection of heptanal in workplace. Methods: Glass tubes filled with DNPH - coated silica gel were used for air sampling. The DNPH - derivs. were extd. from the silica gel by ultrasonic treatment with acetonitrile. Anal. of the DNPH - derivs. was carried out using a HPLC with diode array (UV/DAD) detection. Results: The method was simple, accurate, and highly sensitive. The Correlation coeff. of calibration curves was 0.99994. Recovery rates of 96.68% ~ 100.76% were detd. The relative std. deviation 0.33% ~ 0.46% and sampling efficiency 100% were obtained. Conclusion: This method is conformed with the requirements of Standardization of methods for detn. of toxic substance in workplace. Heptanal in air could be detd. accurately.
