- Study of the mechanism and kinetics of formation of a branched polyethylene structure by means of a model system. Shostenko, A. G.; Myshkin, V. E.; Kim, V. (Mosk. Khim.-Tekhnol. Inst., Moscow, USSR). Vysokomol. Soedin., Ser. A, 20(7), 1560-4 (Russian) 1978. CODEN: VYSAAF. ISSN: 0507-5475. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 35 (Synthetic High Polymers) The kinetics and mechanism were elucidated of the model reaction of telomerization of ethylene (I) [74-85-1] with n-decyl bromide (II) [112-29-8]. The obtained data permitted prediction of the degree of branching of low-d. polyethylene (III) [9002-88-4] obtained at different temps. and pressures. Identification of the products of the reaction of I with II indicated the occurrence of a 1,5-rearrangement of the intermediate alkyl radicals via H migration. Similar isomerization explains the presence of Et and Bu branches in low-d. III. The isomerization consts. and the corresponding activation energies and preexponential factors were detd. for the I-II telomerization at 30-150° by the method of competitive kinetics.

Lab., Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH 45433, USA). Prepr. - Am. Chem. Soc., Div. Pet. Chem., 29(4), 1053-8 (English) 1984. CODEN: ACPCAT. ISSN: 0569-3799. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 51 (Fossil Fuels, Derivatives, and Related Products) Section cross-reference(s): 25 Polyalkylbenzenes were prepd. from polychlorobenzene and n-alkyl bromides via cross-coupling reactions of the n-alkyl Grignard reagents. 108-70-3 which is the cas registry number of some chemical is mentioned. E.g., coupling of 1,3,5-trichlorobenzene [108-70-3] with hexyl bromide [111-25-1], acetyl bromide [111-83-1], and decyl bromide [112-29-8] gave a 10-component mixt. of trialkylbenzenes having viscosities as follows (kinematic viscosity (cSt) and temp. given): 4500, -54°; 1046, -40°; 13-75, 38°; 3.27, 99°. The mixt. had good thermal-stability, corrosion oxidn., and lubricating properties. Several trialkylbenzenes and 1,2,4,5-tetrahexylbenzene [87969-81-1] were prepd. .
