DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Toxicity of 26 insecticides to the maize weevil (Sitophilus zeamais) and lesser grain borer (Rhyzopertha dominica) was studied by admixt. method. Most insecticides were more toxic to the maize weevil than the lesser grain borer, except azinphos methyl [86-50-0], chlorfenvinphos [470-90-6], carbaryl [63-25-2], methomyl [16752-77-5], decamethrin [52918-63-5], fenvalerate [51630-58-1], and permethrin [52645-53-1], which showed the opposite effect. Etrimfos [38260-54-7] was the most toxic (LC50 0.56 ppm), and carbaryl the least toxic (LC50 1088 ppm) against the corn weevil. 29232-93-7 and 16752-77-5 are also in the experiment. The toxicities of other insecticides to the same species in decreasing order were: pirimiphos methyl [29232-93-7], phoxim [14816-18-3] > fenitrothion [122-14-5] > chlorpyrifos [2921-88-2] > decamethrin > dichlorvos [62-73-7] > bendiocarb [22781-23-3] > malathion [121-75-5] > diazinon [333-41-5] > dicrotophos [141-66-2] > monocrotophos [6923-22-4] > Hokbal [58916-63-5] > propoxur [114-26-1] > azinphos Me > BPMC [3766-81-2] > bromophos [2104-96-3] > permethrin > Anthio [2540-82-1] > chlorfenvinphos > dimethoate [60-51-5] > fenvalerate > methomyl > acephate [30560-19-1] > trichlorfon [52-68-6]. Toxicities to the lesser grain borer, on the other hand, were found to be the highest in decamethrin (LC50 0.07 ppm), and the lowest in trichlorfon (LC50 1505 ppm). Among the rest the order is: permethrin > phoxim > fenvalerate > bendiocarb > chlorpyrifos > dichlorvos > azinphos Me > etrimfos > diazinon > Hokbal > fenitrothion > chlorfenvinphos > carbaryl > BPMC > methomyl > pirimiphos Me > dicrotophos > propoxur > dimethoate > Anthio > malathion > monocrotophos > bromophos > acephate. .
