Bromphenol blue (1-10mM) increased the absorption rate of p-aminohippuric acid [61-78-9], NEt4+ [66-40-0], and mannitol [69-65-8] (0.1mM) by 2- to 18-fold in a concn.-dependent manner. Certain other sulfonic acid dyes, e.g., bromocresol purple [115-40-2], enhanced mannitol absorption by more than bromphenol blue, but chlorphenol red [4430-20-0] and phenol red had no effect on mannitol absorption.
